Applying for a RN License in another state

I got offered a new job position in another state!

So excited about that opportunity, yet realized I needed to have a valid license to practice in that state ASAP.  The following are the steps to apply for a valid Nursing license in your new state of practice:

1) Go to the state's 'Board of Nursing' website that you wish to work/apply for licensure.
2) Fill out an application for licensure by endorsement in the state you wish to work in, and pay the licensure application fee (I paid 120$).
3) You also want to go to the current licensing state's website in which you are already licensed in and fill out a Verification of Licensure form, and pay the verification fee (I paid 30$). This will allow them to send your information to the state you wish to apply for licensure.
4) Wait for them to process your application. This might take 4-6 weeks depending on the state.
5) Once they complete it, your either done, or they will ask you to submit fingerprints for the background check. (I had to pay a 32$ fingerprint fee). Sometimes, if other requirements are met, a temporary practice permit will be issued as you complete the last part of your licensing.

And your done!

FYI: You can have several valid licenses in multiple states. So, you can continue to work at your current job, as you apply for a valid license in the state you will soon be working in!

TIP: Go to the state's 'Board of Nursing' website that you wish to apply for licensure, and research/make note of what their Licensure renewal requirements are in order for you to keep practicing in that state.

How do you all keep track of your renewal requirements?
